If you are reading this, chances are you already know me but if not allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mike and I am a web designer / developer / online marketer based in Leeds.

The reason I decided to start this blog is that I recently made the (good / bad remains to be seen) decision to resign from my job and become self employed and I felt that such a pivotal event in my life deserved some kind of documenting.

I also hope that, assuming this venture goes well, it will serve as some kind of inspiration for others to do the same, if it all goes to shit, I hope it will serve as a cautionary tale to others to stay where you are being paid regularly and can afford to eat!!!

The reasons for my decision to strike out on my own are quite varied really and range from health issues which I am quite confident were caused by my current work schedule and environment to a general feeling that me and the staff in general in my current job are somewhat unappreciated, anyways the point of this blog is to document how I get on from here on in.....

Sooooo 2 days to go until I leave my current job and a couple of major events in the next few days. I find out tomorrow if my current employers are going to contract out part of my current workload to me, which will be a massive boost! and then on Friday I have a second meeting with a company I pitched to at the beginning of the month, at which they will tell me if they are going to give me some work, if either or preferably both work out then hurrah!!! \o/ if neither do, I am starting out in a slightly precarious position.... needless to say I am a bit aprehensive at the moment!

Anyways, anyone who does read this, please feel free to wish me luck for the next few days and I shall update as and when events unfold!
